All the trees needed to be cleaned around

We would like to invite all of you with green thumbs (and not so green) to join us during our annual Lane Maintenance workdays. Starting at 9:00 a.m. on the weekend of May 15th and continuing through Sunday the 16th, and the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of May (9:00 a.m. till noon), we will be cleaning and weeding around all the trees on the Lane. Though many of the homeowners give us a helping hand by keeping the area around their tree clean, each one must be checked and cleaned around as needed. As with both “Lights Up” and “Take Down,” we will be starting on Santa Rosa between Altadena Dr. and Mariposa. Unlike other times, the street will not be closed because we will be staying close to the trees and in the gutters.

We will have tools and gardening equipment needed for the job, but if you have tools that you love to use, feel free to bring them.

Like other work days on Christmas Tree Lane, we will have donuts, coffee, hot chocolate, and bottled water for all the volunteers who show up and a homemade lunch after we are done for the day. Also if you plan to bring a group that is more then five people and plan to stay for lunch, please email or call us at 626-403-1123 so we will have enough food for all.

Thanks and see you on the Lane!
As long as the weather permits, we will be taking the lights off the trees every Saturday and Sunday thereafter from 9 to 12 until all the trees are finished. In the morning you will be greeted with donuts, coffee and hot chocolate and after 12:00 lunch will be served.

We will be starting at the top of Christmas Tree Lane (Santa Rosa and Altadena Drive) and working our way down every weekend until finished.

Two things to know before you come:

1) If you are bringing a group of more than 5 on any weekend and plan to stay and have lunch, PLEASE call (626) 403-1123 or E-Mail us beforehand so that we will have enough food for everyone;

2) We can only move as fast as our tree climbers, so, if you would be willing to climb about one story up a ladder, please tell us when you come and we will show you what to do. (To get an idea of the height, go to any tree on the Lane, look up and see the metal box…that’s about how far up you’d need to go).

If you have any further questions about the specifics of screwing in bulbs and taking lines off the trees, give us a call.

Thank you and we hope to see you on the Lane!!

Due to the heavy rain on Saturday, December 12, the 89th Christmas Tree Lane Lighting Ceremony and Winter Festival was canceled.

If you want a second opportunity to support Christmas Tree Lane, come this Saturday, December 19th to the “North Lake Pole Holiday Shop Hop”, the North Lake business district’s ongoing holiday shopping event.

All those disappointed by the canceled event will have another opportunity to support the Lane by purchasing some of the expanded line of memorabila this coming Saturday for 10am to 4pm.

The Lane is noted for their note cards, holiday greeting cards, miscellaneous gifts, and other items produced by the association that preserves the historic landmark and tree lighting tradition.

Despite last weekend’s canceled lighting ceremony, the lighting of the trees continues daily from dusk until midnight and is ongoing until January 1st, and again on January 6th and 7th for Orthodox Christmas.
